Skin Peels

A skin peel is a treatment used to improve skin texture and tone.  Applying the peel to skin loosens the connections between dead skin cells, inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth.  This process causes superficial layers of dead skin to peel off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion.  Peels also even out skin tone, improve acne-prone skin and reduce the appearance of pore size.

Chemical peels are classified as light (superficial), medium, or deep depending on the depth of penetration of the ingredients used.

Beautiful skin doesn’t happen overnight and treatments take time to show results.  A single chemical peel can provide the immediate effect of bright and radiant skin; however, more significant results in treating textural issues, fine lines and inflamed acne require courses of treatments with the additional use of home care products.

On what areas of the body are chemical peels used?

Chemical peels are usually performed on the face, but may also be used on the neck, décolleté and hands.

Does it hurt?

This depends on the type of peel used.  Superficial peels can give a mild tingling sensation to the skin which lasts a few moments whereas medium-depth peels can feel that bit more intense. This also settles quickly so in general they are tolerated well.

When should I see results?

This ranges from every two to four weeks depending on the type of peel and treatment aims.  Full details are given at your consultation.

Are peels safe?

Thankfully complications are rare however they can happen.  Complications include excessive shedding of skin to hyper or hypo-pigmentation.

What peels does Dr Sabba offer?

Dr Sabba offers the AlumierMD range of peels.  This is because they can be customised to target specific skin concerns whether it be ageing, pigmentation or acne.

Part of this range includes Radiant 20/10 (superficial peel) and the Glow peel (medium depth).

What is the Radiant 20/10?

With lactic acid and salicylic acid, Radiant 20/10 resurfacing peel contains a powerful combination of them both which improves skin tone and texture by exfoliating dead skin cells and speeding cell turnover.  The multipurpose resurfacing peel reduces acne breakouts and minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, hyperpigmentation and sun-damage.

What is the Glow Peel?

Glow peel combines lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol, creating a multipurpose resurfacing solution effective in minimising fine lines, wrinkles, acne and hyperpigmentation issues like age spots and uneven skin tone.  This formula exfoliates dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal.  To suit individual needs, Glow Peel can be customised by strength by the number of layers.

What about skincare?

An appropriate skincare regime in combination with skin peel ensures the best results and is just as important as the peel itself.  Pre-treatment products accelerate results and minimise complications.  Post-treatment products heal and soothe the skin, minimise complications and maintain results.
