PRP Skin and Hair Rejuvenation

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and is widely used in facial aesthetics.  PRP has long been used for medical purposes in treating wounds and in specialities such as orthopaedics and sports medicine.  Platelets from your own blood are used to stimulate collagen, elastin and cellular growth.  It is now used in aesthetics due to the beneficial effect it has in rejuvenating hair and skin.

What conditions does Cellenis PRP Treat?

This treatment is used to improve skin texture and tone and reduce wrinkles and scars. It is also used to treat stretch marks.

Cellenis PRP can also be used to promote hair growth when injected into the scalp. Visible results may take between 2-12 weeks and vary between individuals, depending on different factors such as general health, age, diet, smoking and skin type.

How is this achieved?

A small sample of blood is taken from your arm. The blood is centrifuged and ten minutes later, the PRP has been separated from the whole blood and is ready for use. Once injected, the growth factors and other regenerative molecules are released leading to collagen and elastin formation as well as cellular growth and skin remodelling, resulting in long-lasting skin rejuvenation.

How many treatments will I need?

In most cases PRP treatment is performed in a series of three sessions, 3-8 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are recommended every 6-12 months for optimal long-lasting results.

Are there any adverse side effects?

The sensations vary between each person and treatment. Since the PRP comes from your own blood it carries no risk of allergic reaction and adverse reactions are rare. You may experience slight redness, swelling, mild bruising and pain. These side effects usually settle in a day or two.

Are there any contraindications?

Contraindications include pregnancy, breast feeding, autoimmune or blood pathologies and cancer. Furthermore consistent use of NSAID drugs within 48 hours of Cellenis PRP application should be avoided.
