Non-Surgical Brow Lift

Having beautifully defined arched eyebrows is extremely flattering and helps lift the whole face. Ageing can lead to the eyebrows dropping and becoming flat which can make a person appear tired and less refreshed. The non-surgical eyebrow lift helps to open up the eyes resulting in a fresher more alert appearance as well as creating a lift to the brow position.

How is this achieved?

Wrinkle-relaxing injections are placed in specific muscles around the eyes and forehead to create lift in the brow.  It is imperative to have sound knowledge of facial musculature and anatomy in order to achieve a natural-looking result.

How does wrinkle relaxation work?

Wrinkles form when a muscle repeatedly contracts. For a muscle to contract, a nerve must release a chemical messenger called acetylcholine at the junction where the nerve ending meets the muscle. Acetylcholine attaches to the muscle cells and causes the muscle to contract. Wrinkle relaxation injections stop the release of acetylcholine thereby blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles so they can no longer contract.

By understanding what each muscle does in the face wrinkle-relaxing injections can be utilised to create a lift in the eyebrow.

How long does the treatment take?

The procedure itself is quick and the treatment time is 15 minutes however time is spent prior to the injections cleaning and disinfecting the skin, taking photographs and carefully marking the areas to be treated on the face.

Does it hurt?

Understandably a lot of patients are concerned about pain however the sensation is usually only that of a sharp scratch.  There are a number of ways to reduce pain and these include using extremely fine needles to administer the treatment and having a gentle injection technique. Topical anaesthetic cream is not needed.

Will I look natural?

Looking natural is really important to the patients that Dr Sabba treats.  You should still be able to move your face and not look frozen.  The aim is to still look like you but a fresher, more rested version of yourself.  This is another reason why the consultation is so important- in order for you to discuss what you are seeking but also so that any worries or fears can be addressed.

You will also be told if this treatment is not suitable for you.  Not all patients can have a non-surgical eyebrow lift. One of the give-away signs of treatment are ‘ladder lines’.  These are horizontal lines that develop above the outer aspect of each eyebrow.  At rest a person may look natural but when they move their face it can look unnatural and strange.  All aesthetic treatments should enhance a persons appearance and so patient selection is key.

Will I need a checkup?

A follow-up appointment is always organised for patients two to three weeks after the non-surgical eyebrow lift.  This is especially important for new patients where some adjustment may be needed in order to achieve the best result possible.  Some patients however may not feel the need to return so this is discussed on a case by case basis.

When will I see results?

Most patients start to see results by Day 5 and it takes two weeks for the final results to appear.  It is therefore important to plan your treatment in advance if you are attending a special event taking into account the two week follow-up in case any adjustments are needed.

How long do results last?

This is variable however the average duration is three to four months.  In some patients movement can return earlier, in others it can last even six months.  Please note that lifestyle factors, skin type and area of the face treated all play a role in duration of result.
