What Does Your Face Say About You?

I was fortunate enough to be invited to an event recently in London organised by Allergan and delivered by Dr Mauricio de Maio. Dr de Maio is a true visionary and leader within the aesthetics community and it was really enlightening to hear him speak and watch him inject.

He spoke about the signals an individual sends out to the world. What does their face say about them? How do they wish to be seen by the world? What messages do they want to highlight and what messages do they want to avoid?

Emotions such as anger or sadness can be conveyed inadvertently through a severe frown line or deep marionette lines. A person with significant tear troughs may constantly be told how tired they look when they’re not. As well as finding out what an individual wants, it is vital that the practitioner finds out how the patient currently feels and how they want to feel.

If a practitioner can understand this and then deliver the results, it provides the greatest level of satisfaction for both the patient and practitioner. Achieving this for my patients is something I continuously aim for and one of the reasons I enjoy aesthetics so much, seeing the positive impact it can have on an individual and on their life.
